KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 4.29 g, 11 h), uncertain mint in western Asia Minor, circa 323-280. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, monogram. Price 2769 (?). A lovely piece of fine style. The reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
The monogram of the reverse is partly off flan and the attribution to Price 2769 hence tentative.
