Description

LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 330/25-281 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 21 mm, 7.14 g, 5 h). HPAKΛEIΩN Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet decorated with Skylla hurling a stone; behind, K. Rev. HPAKΛEIΩN - [AΘA] Herakles standing facing, head to left, holding club with his right hand and bow, arrow and lion's skin with his left; aryballos. HN Italy 1384. Van Keuren 85. Nicely toned. Struck from somewhat worn dies and with faint cleaning scratches, otherwise, very fine.

From the Maggiore Collection, formed in the late 1970s to early 2000s.
