Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 14.07 g, 6 h), Amphipolis, circa 355-349/8. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ Philip II, wearing kausia and chlamys, raising his right hand in salute and riding horse walking to left; below, club. Le Rider 96-108 (unlisted dies). A lovely example of beautiful style and with very attractive iridescent toning. Very light porosity , otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

From an old Swiss collection, formed in the early to mid 20th century.
