★ A bold oktadrachm of Alexander I ★

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander I, 498-454 BC. Oktadrachm (Silver, 32 mm, 27.70 g), 492-480/79 BC. Horseman, wearing kausia and chlamys, holding two javelins and walking slowly to right behind horse bridled right; on the flank of the horse, kerykeion brand. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Asyut -. Raymond pl. 2, 4 (same dies). SNG ANS 1. A bold and impressive example. Cleaning marks from removing horn silver , otherwise, good very fine.

From a European collection, formed before 2005.
