Description

SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Seleukos I Nikator, 312-281 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 17.15 g, 11 h), Seleukeia on the Tigris I, circa 300-281. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BAΣIΛΕΩΣ - ΣΕΛEYKOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle with closed wings in his right; to left, monogram within wreath; below throne, K. SC 117.2b. Sharply struck and very well centered, an excellent example. The obverse with the usual light die rust , otherwise, extremely fine.
