★ A beautiful tetradrachm of Alexander from Memphis ★

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.23 g, 11 h), Memphis, circa 332-323. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, rose; below throne, ΔI-O. Price 3971. A splendid example of this prestigious issue, boldly struck and of the finest style. Some toning around the devices , otherwise, extremely fine.
