Description

★ A splendid litra from Kamarina ★

SICILY. Kamarina. Circa 410-405 BC. Litra (Silver, 13 mm, 0.93 g, 1 h). ΚΑΜΑΡΙΝΑ Head of the nymph Kamarina to left, wearing sphendone decorated with star, ampyx, spiral earring and necklace. Rev. Swan swimming left with raised wings and curved neck; below, waves and a fish swimming left. Jameson 529 ( same obverse die ). SNG ANS 1210 ( same obverse die ). Westermark & Jenkins 171. Very rare and in exceptional condition, a superb example of the finest style. Very light porosity , otherwise, extremely fine.

From the M.G. Collection, formed in the 1980s and 1990s.
