Description

CELTIC, Lower Danube. Imitations of Thasos. Late 2nd-1st century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 33 mm, 16.41 g, 12 h). Celticized head of Dionysos to right, wearing ivy-wreath. Rev. AT HOI Σ - TΛEOAΣ / ΘAΣIΩN Herakles standing front, head to left, holding club with his right hand and lion skin draped over his left arm; in inner left field, A. Dembski 1507. Lanz -. OTA Class III. Flesche -. Very well struck on a broad flan. The flan slightly wavy , otherwise, extremely fine.
