★ A very interesting and unusual issue ★
CELTIC, Central Gaul. Aedui. Circa 80-50 BC. Quinarius (Silver, 13 mm, 1.67 g, 3 h). Jugate stylized male heads to left, the lips formed out of straight lines and with two crescent-shaped laurel patterns before. Rev. Horse galloping to left; above and below, circlet. DT -. Flesche -. LT -. SLM -. Apparently unpublished and unique, a very interesting and unusual issue. Beautifully toned and very attractive. The obverse struck somewhat off center and the metal slightly crystallized , otherwise, extremely fine.
From the Helvetii Collection, formed in the 1970s and 1980s.
This is a curious and extraordinary coin: the obverse shows two stylized faces to left with crescent-shaped laurel patterns before, a highly unusual design that possibly imitates a double-struck Aedui quinarius.
