★ A well made contemporary plated imitation of a denarius of Brutus ★
Brutus, † 42 BC. Denarius (Subaeratus, 18 mm, 3.36 g, 12 h), with L. Plaetorius Cestianus, irregular mint, late summer-autumn 42 BC. L•PLAET•CEST Laureate, draped and veiled bust of Ceres to right, surmounted by modius. Rev. BRVTVS•IMP Sacrificial axe and simpulum. Cf. Babelon (Junia) 51 and (Plaetoria) 12, Crawford 508/2 and Sydenham 1300 (for prototype). A very well made contemporary plated imitation. Minor breaks in plating , otherwise, good very fine.
