M. Aemilius Scaurus and Pub. Plautius Hypsaeus, 58 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.54 g, 2 h), Rome. M•SCAVR / AED•CVR / S•C / REX•ARETAS Nabatean king Aretas kneeling right, holding olive branch and reins of camel standing beside him. Rev. M•SCAVR / AED•CVR / CAPTV / C•HVPSAE•COS / PREIVE Jupiter in quadriga left, holding reins in his left hand and hurling thunderbolt with his right. Babelon (Aemilia) 9 and (Plautia) 10. Crawford 422/1b. RBW 1519. Sydenham 912. Some minor scratches and the obverse struck somewhat off center , otherwise, very fine.
