Nero Claudius Drusus, died 9 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.63 g, 8 h), Rome, struck under Claudius, 41-45. NERO CLAVDIVS DRVSVS GERMANICVS IMP Laureate head of Nero Claudius Drusus to left. Rev. Triumphal arch surmounted by equestrian statue, holding a long spear with his left hand and raising his right, between two trophies; on architrave DE GERMANIS. BMC 102. Cohen 4. RIC 72. Claudius issued this type in memory of his father Nero Claudius Drusus, who died half a century earlier. The triumphal arch depicted on the reverse was commissioned by Augustus in order to commemorate the victories of his beloved stepson in Germania.
