Description

MACEDON. Akanthos. Circa 500-470 BC. 3/4 Obol (Silver, 9 mm, 0.44 g). Facing head of a lioness with neck above. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square with granulated recesses. AMNG III, 17. BMC 21. SNG ANS 27-29. Sharply struck, darkly toned and very attractive. Extremely fine.

From a German collection, assembled since the 1960s.
