Description

★ Extremely fine and with magnificent old collection ★

CELTIC, Carpathian region. Uncertain tribe. Circa 2nd century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 22 mm, 13.56 g, 8 h), 'Y auf Postament' type, imitating Audoleon. Celticized laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. Horseman to right with imitative legend around; below horse, Y on pediment (imitative Audoleon monogram); below foreleg, Π. Dembski 1339. Lanz 721 ( same obverse die ). OTA 422/1 ( same dies ). A particularly attractive example with magnificent old collection toning. Minor metal flaw on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
