CELTIC, Northeast Gaul. Bellovaci . Circa 60-30/25 BC. 1/4 Stater (Gold, 11 mm, 1.38 g, 3 h), 'Quart à l’astre' Type. Abstracted face right, with huge eye; to left, torques and radiant sun. Rev. Horse galloping right; above, radiant sun. D&T 274 var. LT 7239 var. (both with two suns). A rare variety with only one sun on the reverse. A particularly fine and elegant example with lovely toning. Extremely fine.
