★ A rare potin from the Durocassi ★
CELTIC, Northwest Gaul. Durocassi . Circa 50-30 BC. Cast unit (Potin, 18 mm, 2.82 g, 9 h), 'Aux croisettes' Type. Celticized head to left, with curly hair. Rev. Abstract horse, reduced to a horizontal volute with two crosses below; above, three pellets above an upturned arc above a cross; below, ground line with vertical striations. Blanchet, Traité des Monnaies gauloises, fig. 559. D&T 2508A. Gäumann 184. Rare. Nice olive-green patina. Good very fine.
