Stephanephoric tetradrachm, about 160-150 BC. AR 16.71 g. Laureate head of Apollo r., hair braided, falling about neck. Rev. MURINAIWN Apollo, wearing himation, nude to waist, standing r., holding patera in his r. hand, filleted laurel branch with his l. hand; at feet, omphalos and amphora; in field l., monogram; whole in laurel wreath. K.S. Sacks, The Wreathed Coins of Aeolian Myrina, ANS MN 30 (1985),40, cf. issue 38.68h (this obv. die, but different monogram) = coll. De Hirsch 1478.
Rare type with new monogram . Excellent style. Very large flan. Choice uncirculated Provenance: Auction Ira & Larry Goldberg, Los Angeles 59 (2010), 2138.
