Stater, about 350-340 BC. AR 12.13 g. Head of Demeter l., crowned with ears of corn; she wears a triple- pendant earring and a necklace. Rev. OPON - TIWN Ajax the Locrian, nude but for a crested Corinthian helmet, advancing r. on rocky ground, holding short sword in his r. hand, large round shield decorated on its interior with griffin prancing r. in his l. hand; at his feet, spear and laurel branch.
