Decadrachm, unsigned, in the manner of the master-engraver Euainetos, about 405-390 BC. AR 43.32 g. Fast quadriga l., the charioteer, wearing sleeveless chiton, holds the reins with his l. hand, the kentron with his r. hand; he is crowned by Nike flying r.; in the exergue, panoply of armour: cuirass, greaves, shield and helmet on two steps, below [AQLA]. Rev. Head of Kore-Persephone l., crowned with reed; she wears a triple-pendant earring and a necklace; below chin, griffon head r.; around, four dolphins. Gallatin 33, G.Ia/R.XIX (these dies). Dewing Coll. 921 (these dies).
Very rare variety , Gallatin knew of only 3 specimens.
Excellent style. Obv. unusually well preserved. Extremely fine Provenance: Private Japanese collection since 2001.
