Decadrachm, signed by the master-engraver Kimon, about 410-405 BC. AR 41.05 g. Fast quadriga l., the charioteer, wearing sleeveless chiton, holds the reins with his l. hand, the kentron with his r. hand; he is crowned by Nike flying r.; on the exergual line, [signature KIMWN]; in the exergue, panoply of armour: cuirass, greaves, shield and helmet on two steps, below [AQLA]. Rev. [SURAKOSIWN] Head of Arethusa l., hair in ampyx and in a sphendone of network; she wears a triple-pendant earring and a necklace; around, four dolphins; signatures K on ampyx and KIMWN on the dolphin below neck truncation.
