TARENTUM
Nomos, about 450-440 BC. AR 7.96 g. Youthful Taras, nude to waist, seated l. on diphros, holding distaff with his outstretched r. hand, his l. hand resting on a staff under his l. armpit. Rev. TARAS Phalanthos, nude astride a dolphin, both his arms outstretched; below, cockle-shell. Vlasto 27,204 (these dies). Fischer-Bossert 91,200c ( this specimen , illustr. on pl. 12).
