The numismatic shop label on the front flyleaf: ‘Dr. Busso Peus Munzenhandlung Frankfurt’. Fundamental work of I. I. Tolstoy (1858-1916), Russian statesman, archaeologist and numismatist. The author planned to place the whole collection into 12 issues. In 1914, issues 6-9 were published and at that time further publishing stopped. The last issue ends with a description of the coins of Michael III (842-867). In total, the work describes more than 4,000 coins. Толстого (1858-1916), русского государственного деятеля, археолога и нумизмата. Всю коллекцию автор планировал уложить в 12 выпусков. В 1914 г. вышли в свет выпуски 6-9 и на этом издание прекратилось. Последний выпуск заканчивается описанием монет Михаила III (842-867 гг.). Всего в работе описано более 4000 монет, на начало XX в. это был самый полный каталог по византийской нумизматике.
