MYSIA. Cyzicus. Ca. 500-450 BC. EL sixth-stater or hecte (11mm, 2.66 gm). NGC VF 5/5 - 3/5, countermark. Head of young male left on raised circular disc, wearing earring, hair in rolls and tied up in back; tunny fish left below / Quadripartite mill-sail incuse square. Greenwell 77. Von Fritze I 105. Rosen 486. Greenwell notes on p.91 "The disk is probably that of the Sun, and the head that of Helios, as the Sun-god. It has been suggested that the head is of a discobolus, placed on a disc."
