Victoria gold Sovereign 1868-SYDNEY MS63 NGC, Sydney mint, KM4. An exceptional example, at the highest grade level for the type save for one MS63+ example at PCGS. These early Branch Mint pieces were alloyed with pure silver, sometimes with copper but never a mix of the two; this piece is the former, its color the distinctive pale yellow the gold/silver alloy produces. Beautifully preserved, its strike razor-sharp and its fields very clear, exhibiting full mint luster and almost entirely original color save for a blush of peach tone on the obverse. Almost never offered in this choice grade, highly desirable thus. Ex. Park House Collection
