Description

Morocco Banque d'Etat du Maroc 5000 Francs 1.8.1943 Pick 32 PMG Very Fine 25. The largest denomination from a WWII issue that did not circulate for very long. The French were unable to meet the needs of their territory's cash supply, and relied on the ABNC to come to the rescue. Apart from this issue, there was currency being printed locally as well. It was only 1948 before things were restored to where Banque de France could print banknotes for Morocco. Simplistic designs, no watermark, and no metal strip were mostly due to the speed at which ABNC had to get cash over to North Africa. Really quite scarce, and inevitably always in circulated grade.
