Description

Ethiopia Bank of Abyssinia 50 Thalers ND (1915-1929) Pick 3cts; 3cts2 Front and Back Color Trial Specimens PMG Choice Uncirculated 64; Choice Uncirculated 63. A very rare, early type that is seldom seen in any grade, at any time. This stunning creation by Bradbury, Wilkinson, & Company has excellent eye appeal and the uniface printing allows for easy viewing of all design elements. According to Linzmayer's Abyssinia chapter of The Banknote Book, The Bank of Abyssinia was purchased in 1931 by the newly-formed Bank of Ethiopia to coincide with country's name change. The extremely scarcity of these early types can most likely be attributed to a fast and countrywide redemption of the older types as the new Bank of Ethiopia notes were issued. A classic African rarity. The back Specimen has mount remnants and a tear mentioned for accuracy. From the Yuri Solovey Collection of Maghreb and Levant
