Two more modern designs issued on behalf of the various Japanese national banks which operated in the latter parts of the Meiji Era. The 1 Yen is issued by the 110th National Bank in Yamaguchi, Suo and the 5 Yen is issued by the 13th National Bank in Oita, Bungo. Both places continue to use the old province names before they were converted to prefectures. Daikoku, the god of fortune, is featured on the back of both notes.
