MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AV stater (18mm, 1h). Fine, mounted in unmarked gold ring. Posthumous issue of Abydus, 310-301 BC. Head of Athena right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on head, the bowl decorated with coiled serpent / ΑΛEΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, Nike standing left, wreath in right hand, stylis in left; ME monogram in left field, scallop shell below wing in left field. Price 1559. Mounted in unmarked gold ring decorated with grapes. Ring is a creation of Maison Le Bronze, Joailliers, 37 Boulevard de Clichy, Paris, France and includes their old hard blue ring box.
