Republic gold Kaalpond ND (1900) "Kaalpond without Rim" NGC, Hern-Z55. Also known as a "rimless blank ponde", essentially a blank planchet for the pond, struck without rim (varieties with rim exist as well). An ink note states "Kruger Pond Made in the Field No Dies", with "725" noted on the reverse. It seems this was added by a collector or dealer as an attribution to the piece, which records indicate was actually produced at the Pretoria mint rather than in the field.
