Madura Island. Sumenep Counterstamped Ducaton ND (1811-1854) VF25 NGC, KM199.2, cf. KM1816 (for host), Hafner-115 (1780-dated host). Displaying star counterstamp (XF Strong) on a Maria Theresa Thaler 1761 of Austria. The largest of the Sumenep-counterstamped issues, more commonly seen on Mexican Pillar 8 Reales than this Austrian host, the stamp full with some light die rust in its recesses, and the host itself with rather even wear and pleasant charcoal accents giving a visual pop to the devices.
