Venice. Pasqual Cicogna Scudo ND (1585-1595)-ZAP VF35 NGC, Dav-8402. A piece full of captivating contrasts, not least of which being its singular eye appeal for the assigned grade--the fields lightly striated with what look to be a cross being flan adjustments and die polish, which act as crevices of iridescent color. The almost charcoal patina of the surfaces meshes nicely with the soft gray atop the features, and the lion of St. Mark appears expressive without blending together.
