Description

James I gold Laurel ND (1623-1624) AU55 NGC, Tower mint, Lis mm, Third Coinage, Fourth Bust, 8.97gm, KM75, S-2638C, N-2114. IACOBVS: D: G: MAG: BRI: FRA: ET HI: REX, laureate, armored (cuirassed and draped) bust of James right, XX (denomination) behind / FACIA | M EOS IN | GENTEM | VNAM, long cross fleury over crowned square shield. An incredible rendition of this extremely iconic, if short-lived, gold type, and one of only a handful to achieve this lofty level of certification, the present offering evinces not of the usually flaws that plague the type. The flan is full and round, a pleasant yellow-gold in hue, surprisingly lacking in weakness with a strong, painstakingly engraved visage of the king. The legends are blatantly obvious and easy to read without serious effort, and little waviness is perceivable. And all-in-all laudable example that is set to stun.
