Jean II le Bon (1350-1364) gold Mouton d'Or ND UNC Detail (Cleaned) PCGS, 4.64gm, Fr-280, Dup-291. +AGN • DЄI • QVI •TOLL' • PCCA • MVDI • MISЄRЄRЄ • nOB', nimbate Agnus Dei standing left, head right, long cross with banner behind; all within tressure broken by IOh' | RЄX in exergue / +XP'C ‡ VInCIT ‡ XP'C ‡ RЄGnAT ‡ XP'C ‡ IMPЄRAT, cross fleury with lis in angles, within a quadrelobe with lis in spandrels. Emission from 17 January 1355. A beloved medieval French gold type, struck on a just out-of-round flan of good metal that captures the whole of the stamp, minor scattered weakness and great detail on the pascal lamb, and only the faintest hairlines indicating light handling.
