AKANTHOS , Tetrobol, 480-465 BC, Forepart of lion r, devouring prey, as S1363A (£150) but without floral ornament above lion, much scarcer thus. This early type altogether is rarer than the common later one (see next lot). Bold VF, well struck, good metal with deep tone, but holed above lion. (A VF (with floral) brought $538, Naumann 7/15.)
